Radiation dosimetry of para-chloro-2-[18F]fluoroethyl-etomidate: a PET tracer for adrenocortical imaging - EJNMMI Research
Nine patients with a range of adrenal pathologies (primary aldosteronism, cortisol-producing adenoma, non-functioning adrenal adenoma) were included in this study (mean age 54, range 44–68 years; four females & five males). Patient characteristics are given in Table 1. [18F]CETO was produced according to previously described methods [13].
GWAS of random glucose in 476,326 individuals provide insights into diabetes pathophysiology, complications and treatment stratification - Nature Genetics
|
Abstract Conventional measurements of fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels investigated in genome-wide association studies (GWAS) cannot capture the effects of DNA variability on ‘around the clock’ glucoregulatory processes. Here we show that GWAS meta-analysis of glucose measurements under nonstandardized conditions (random glucose (RG)) in 476,326 individuals of diverse ancestries and without diabetes enables locus discovery and innovative pathophysiological observations.

Primary aldosteronism: molecular medicine meets public health - Nature Reviews Nephrology
Abstract Primary aldosteronism is the most common single cause of hypertension and is potentially curable when only one adrenal gland is the culprit. The importance of primary aldosteronism to public health derives from its high prevalence but huge under-diagnosis (estimated to be <1% of all affected individuals), despite the consequences of poor blood pressure control by conventional therapy and enhanced cardiovascular risk.
Q&A: Non-invasive scan facilitates detection and cure of common hypertension cause

The High Speed Rail Authority Has Lost Support of the Legislature for its Proposed Plans
The 12 year saga of the California High Speed Rail Authority and its attempt to build a true high speed train to connect northern and southern California, has been shaken to its core. At the 4.5 hour Assembly Transportation Committee oversight hearing of May 27th was painted a complete reversal of the unlimited support for the project, which has always been the Democrat caucus position.

Founder of DERAIL, a grassroots effort against the California high-speed rail Project The 12 year saga of the California High Speed Rail Authority and its attempt to build a true high speed train to connect northern and southern California, has been shaken to its core. Challenging the California High Speed Rail Leadership and Project Direction
November 19, 2019 By Morris Brown The Assembly Transportation Committee High Speed Rail oversight hearing of Tuesday (11-12-2019) exposed a regional funding war. The project’s leadership, Brian Kelly (CEO) and Board Chair Lenny Mendonca, are pushing the present “spend all existing funds in the Central Valley (CV) agenda”. Governor Newsom, who “flip/flops” with his position on HSR depending on the season of the year, right now does endorse Kelly’s leadership and the present plans.
The High Speed Rail 2018 Business Plan - A Classic Model Of Deception
The California High Speed Rail Authority has released its 2018 Business Plan. It portends to finally reveal the true cost for construction of Phase I of the project. The new cost estimate is at a base of $77.3 billion to a possible $98.1 billion dollars. Completion of Phase I is now projected for year 2032.
Caltrain in Desperate Need of a State Audit
The State Legislature recently approved on a bipartisan basis, an Audit of the High Speed Rail Authority. The Legislature also needs to authorize an audit of Caltrain, the Bay Area commuter line. Caltrain is exhibiting extreme incompetence and has wasted millions of dollars of public funds. If ever a public agency needs to face an audit, it is Caltrain. Nobody wants Caltrain to fail. Caltrain provides a valuable commuting option to jobs, for workers on the peninsula.
