Abstract Detection of defects and failures in photovoltaic (PV) modules increasingly relies on imaging-based diagnostics, particularly infrared thermography. Artificial intelligence models trained on thermal imaging data can help identify PV defects and failures. However, the effectiveness of these imaging-based diagnostic models is frequently limited by severe class imbalance in real-world datasets, where safety-critical fault categories are significantly underrepresented.
