First, it was the Leventis group that left, then followed by Kingsway and UTC, now we are talking about the Shop-Rite, also leaving, and possibly to render about 200,000 Nigerians jobless amidst the collapsed economy of a country far behind in the list of nations growing. However, we must not be unaware if the situation of the world right now, but if this situation has an impact on retail trade one can argue even less.

Many of the top business leaders, according to Justin Menkes, the author of the book; Executive Intelligence, may have attended elite academic institutions, and this education can serve as a good foundation-[developing] the ability to think critically and understand concepts. So a doctorate can be an indication of intellectual horsepower. But in business setting you must be able to not only generate ideas but translate those ideas into results.

Our society is one which diminishes the young. Being young is a capital offence in Nigeria. We take a loathing to the daring young. Confidence of youth is garbled as arrogance and juvenile vitality is dismissed as imprudence or irresponsibility. We hold fast to the materiality of age – even though inconsequential. An ageist society we are. I have followed with stupefaction the barbs thrown on the path of Naira Marley, the singer, at different turns.
