Not my highschool paper, as we didn't have one, but my local ethnic (Spanish) community newspaper, Las Buenas Nuevas.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Immerse yourself in the subject you want to cover. Network, get involved, reach out to local businesses, etc. and offer a unique perspective.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
An non-targeted press release with no actual intro or pitch, that just asks for coverage.
What's your favorite drink?
Tequila. Anyway. Whether on ice, with soda, ginger, or in a cocktail.
