Updated Aug. 12, 2026, 12:17 p.m. CT David Crowley is the first Black man to be a major party's nominee for governor in Wisconsin. Crowley narrowly won the Democratic primary after defeating presumed frontrunner Francesca Hong. He is currently Milwaukee's first Black county executive and the youngest person to hold the office. Crowley has highlighted his experience overcoming childhood hardship and his work as a community organizer.
