A Comprehensive Systematic Well-to-Refinery Carbon Intensity Assessment of Technoeconomically Viable CO 2 -EOR Operations in Alberta Click to copy article link Article link copied!
CO 2 -EOR is not technically feasible for all fields in Alberta, given the large variance in the field’s properties. The technical screening criteria reduced the total number of field-pools from 13,948 to 2950 (Section 4.1 in SI ) by ranking pools using criteria like oil gravity, minimum miscibility pressure, and reservoir size with a score threshold of 16 or higher (Section 4.1 in SI ). Moreover, even among technically viable candidates, not all fields would be economically feasible.

Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Carbon dioxide-enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR) has received attention in recent years because it is a means of utilizing and storing captured CO2 and mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while capturing the economic benefits of oil production. (1−5) Historically, most CO2 used in EOR was sourced from natural accumulations, but the share coming from industrial sources has been increasing with time (Figure SI 1 and Table SI 1).
Spectral feature modeling with graph signal processing for brain connectivity in autism spectrum disorder
16 hours ago It was recently revealed that an AI research team in Singapore is using artificial intelligence to read minds, using trained algorithms to map out brain responses and letting them produce images based on readings of brain activity. Now neurobiologists are discussing taking this concept even further and using a ChatGPT-like AI program to talk to animals.
