One of the typical symptoms of Esca is white rot in the trunk, also called amadou [2]. In Europe, Fomitiporia mediterranea M. Fischer (Basidiomycota, Hymenochaetaceae) (Fmed) is the main fungal species identified in amadou [3,4,5].
