Coupling a system to two different baths can lead to novel phenomena escaping the constraints of thermal equilibrium. In quantum materials inside optical cavities, this feature can be exploited as electrons and cavity photons are easily pulled away from their mutual equilibrium, even in the steady state. This offers new routes for a noninvasive control of material properties and functionalities.

We study the quench and the ramp dynamics of interacting N-component charged bosons with dipole symmetry using Schwinger-Keldysh field theory in the large-N limit. The equilibrium phase diagram of these bosons shows two phases in the large-N limit. The first is a normal phase where both the global U(N) and the dipole symmetries are conserved and the second is a delocalized condensed phase where both the symmetries are broken.

Abstract The classic combinatorial construct of maximum matchings probes the random geometry of regions with local sublattice imbalance in a site-diluted bipartite lattice. We demonstrate that these regions, which host the monomers of any maximum matching of the lattice, control the localization properties of a zero-energy quantum particle hopping on this lattice. The structure theory of Dulmage and Mendelsohn provides us with a way of identifying a complete and nonoverlapping set of such regions.
