Edmonton is growing rapidly. Its transportation network must grow with it. For decades, the automobile has carried most of Edmonton’s mobility burden. That was hardly surprising. Edmonton had abundant land, relatively affordable housing, expanding suburban communities and a road network built to accommodate outward growth. But a city approaching two million residents cannot move as though it were still a city of half a million.

It's a story about an image and how AI helped us reimagine it. It's also about the trade-off between how we see ourselves and how others see us. AI can certainly sharpen the image, but will others buy it? I snapped the river valley from the LRT during my uneventful commute to work. The LRT stopped on the bridge, and I captured the sleepy North Saskatchewan River under a cloudy sky. What the iPhone captured was a less-than-remarkable image.
