1. Introduction Spinal cord injury is relatively common and can have life-altering effects. In Canada, there are approximately 86,000 people with spinal cord injuries, with 4300 new cases each year [1,2]. The number of Canadians with incomplete spinal cord injuries is increasing [3]. As Canada’s population ages, in 10 years the number of people living with spinal cord injury will likely rise to more than 120,000 [2].
