KEARNS — On concert nights, Martha Smith says the streets near her Kearns home no longer feel like a neighborhood. “It was just bumper to bumper all the way down,” Smith explained. “Next thing you know, we’re not a residential street anymore; we’re a freeway.” People who live near the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater say concert traffic fills neighborhood streets, blocks driveways and creates concerns about whether emergency vehicles can get through.

Salt Lake Boys & Girls Club faces uncertain future after property listed for sale

SALT LAKE CITY — The Lied Boys & Girls Club in Poplar Grove, once a safe haven for generations of kids, has been listed for sale. The organization said the Lied Club property was listed for sale in March after it previously announced the club would temporarily close. Last August, the organization said the temporary closure was due to the loss of more than $2 million in federal funding. YouthCity continued after-school programming at the facility through June 30, according to the organization.

Proposal by West Valley City to rotate towing service providers may threaten family-owned business

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City is considering replacing its rotating list of towing companies with one primary tow provider, a proposal that has raised concerns among some people who say it could hurt family-run businesses. City leaders said West Valley City police request towing services about 10 to 15 times a night after arrests, DUIs and crashes, amounting to as many as 5,000 requests a year.
