1 Introduction High-mobility group proteins (HMG) were first extracted and identified in the bovine thymus in 1973 and named for their high mobility in gel electrophoresis (1). Based on their functional sequence motif characteristics, HMG proteins are divided into three superfamilies: HMGB, HMGA, and HMGN (2).
