I would like to highlight an ongoing challenge in the management of patients with impacted maxillary canines: the considerable variation in the quality and timing of orthodontic referrals. Despite longstanding guidance on the early detection of ectopic canines, we continue to see patients referred at a stage when treatment options become limited and the risk of adverse outcomes is increased – including root resorption of adjacent incisors.

ABSTRACT In 1937, the British government implemented a strategy to strengthen UK air defences, constructing a network of decoy sites to mislead enemy aircraft from bombing Allied airfields, industrial centres and major cities. This paper reports on investigations of three relict aerial bombing decoy sites in Staffordshire, UK, deliberately built along German radio beam directions to divert enemy bombers from high priority industrial target sites.

The high pressure behavior of condensed matter, important to both science1,2 and technology,3–5 is a frontier of physics where insight into important phenomenology is limited by both our ability to field experiments probing these conditions and derive information from such experiments. Dynamic compression experiments in condensed matter are of interest because they offer one means of accessing states of matter that are challenging to access otherwise.
