Ultrasonication-assisted co-precipitation synthesis of ZnO, Fe 2 O 3 , and MnO 2 nanoflowers for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue
Abstract The wastewater contaminated with dyes, especially those used in the textile industries, poses a serious environmental problem because of the large amounts of synthetic dyes, such as methylene blue, that are not easily treated using the traditional treatment processes. The existing methods are mainly partial degradation by adsorption or photocatalysis, which demonstrates an important research gap in the complete removal of dyes.
Holistic insight mechanism of abrasive water jet machining on surface characteristics and dimensional accuracy of Al2017A alloy hybrid composites
Abstract In this study, the effects of hybrid composites fabricated using Al2017A base alloy with different reinforcement compositions (Al2017A/0.5% hBN, Al2017A/0.5% hBN/1.0% ZrO2), and Al2017A/0.5% hBN/2.0% ZrO2) on the abrasive water jet (AWJ) machining performance are examined in terms of material removal rate (MRR), piercing time (PT) and overcut (OC), taper (TAP).
Effective and sustainable methylene blue removal from wastewater using palm kernel cake
Abstract This research evaluates unmodified palm kernel cake (PKC), an agricultural by-product of palm oil processing as an inexpensive and sustainable adsorbent in the removal of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solutions. Experiments on batch adsorption were carried out at 298–313 K, 5–20 mg/L of initial MB concentration, and 2–8 pH. The highest removal of 81% was obtained at pH 8 within 90–120 min.
