Two busy streets in East Williamsburg could soon be reconfigured as one-way roads as the city considers changes aimed at improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety. The NYPD is warning the public about a sophisticated scam targeting older adults after victims across the city lost more than $100 million over the past two years. Police released surveillance video showing an elderly woman in Flatbush handing over approximately $300,000 worth of gold bars to a scammer. Investigators said the woman was tricked into believing her bank accounts had been compromised and was told to convert her savings into gold bars to protect her money.

Tree crashes on two cars in Kingsbridge Heights, sending two to hospital

Two people went to the hospital Thursday morning after a large tree fell on two vehicles in Kingsbridge Heights. The tree uprooted along West Kingsbridge Road, crushing a parked car before falling onto another vehicle that was traveling up the street. Junior Talvaraz said his brother and his 80-year-old father were inside the moving vehicle when the tree came down. “It fell with incredible force,” Talvaraz said.
