Honor Thy Villains: Questioning Aggression in Poker Strategy
Honor Thy Villains: Questioning Aggression in Poker Strategy December 08, 2018 Eileen Sutton "Poker is ballet. Not war." — Felix, Vegas pro We're rebels and loners. Or so we think. In reality, low-stakes cash grinders are often tribal copycats — and we love trends. The trend we love today is aggression. Hip, violent poker metaphors give us permission — crush, dominate, destroy, own. Words condition us early on to be felt-storming banshees — cool, tough, Edward Norton-ish.

Where Are They Now: Xuan Liu Swaps Poker Passion for eSports
Where Are They Now: Xuan Liu Swaps Poker Passion for eSports November 27, 2018 Chad Holloway It’s been a year and a half since Xuan Liu cashed a tournament. It seems strange considering the Canadian, who has nearly $2 million in lifetime earnings, had cashed for six figures four different years since 2011. Liu, a comic book enthusiast and former 888poker pro, has been out of the spotlight, which begged the question – where is she now? Poker to eSports “I’ve had a crazy couple of years.

Among the bracelet events in the recently completed World Series of Poker Europe series in Rozvadov was the €100,000 buy-in Super High Roller won by the Czech Republic's own Martin Kabrhel for more than €2.6 million. The tournament brought out all the big names, including Igor Kurganov and Fedor Holz, both of whom fell shy of the cash in the event.
Hold'em with Holloway, Vol. 87: Matt Alexander Caught in Between w/ Two Red Aces

A Postflop Challenge: Trying to Get Value After Turning the Nuts
This week's hand comes from a $3,500 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament and features one of those "good news, bad news" situations that often come up in poker. The good news is I turn a very strong hand, but the bad news is I find myself in a challenging position to get much value out of it. With a stack of 30,000, the blinds 50/100, and the table playing six-handed, I was dealt under the gun and chose to raise to 300. Only the button called, and the flop came .
Tommy Angelo Presents: Waiting for Straighters, Part I - Discovery
This article is about preflop play at no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha. It's about basing some of your preflop decisions on whether or not you have a straighter. At hold'em, a straighter is a hand that can flop a straight. 6-2 is a straighter. 7-2 isn't. If 9-7 is a "one-gapper," and 9-6 is a "two-gapper," then in gapspeak, a straighter is a hand with 3 or fewer gaps. At PLO, a straighter is a hand with no pairs, no aces, and no more than two gaps.

Freguently Asked Poker Questions: A Guide for American Players Heading to Europe

Kui Song Wu Wins 2018 Poker King Cup Super High Roller for $220,124
It took a bit more than ten levels of 50 minutes each to crown Kui Song Wu from China as the winner of the 2018 Poker King Cup HK$200,000 Super High Roller here in the magnificent Venetian Macau Resort Hotel. Bestpoker Launches $100,000 All-in or Fold Festival
Bestpoker has a cash game variant known as All-in or Fold where, as the name suggests, the stacks in play are so shallow that your only valid option is to move all-on or to fold your hand and move onto the next, and everyone buys in with only eight big blinds. All-in or Fold (AoF) is not only an exciting format, it is also potentially very profitable because Bestpoker is running the AoF Festival throughout September where $100,000 is guaranteed to be won by its players.
Controlling the Pot With Top Pair, Bad Kicker
Here's a hand which illustrates the value of pot control. With the blinds 75/150 and effective stacks 25,000, it folded to me on the button with where I raised to 400. As I discuss in the video below, "ace-rag" hands like or worse are generally not great to play, and in fact just by avoiding getting involved with them you'll increase your chances of success. When you do play these hands, know that you're often going to be bluffing with them, not value betting.
