(Photo: KUTV) BEAVER, Utah (KUTV) — The Cottonwood Fire has scorched nearly 71,000 acres around Beaver Canyon. Gov. Cox said it is possibly the most destructive wildfire in state history and the number one fire in the U.S. The western flank of the fire was active all day on Thursday, with large plumes of smoke and quickly-spreading flames issuing from the ridgeline.

BEAVER, Utah (KUTV) — The Cottonwood Fire has grown to nearly 70,000 acres and is still not contained at all. Crews are working around the clock in shifts, establishing 24-hour wildfire coverage as it burns near the towns of Beaver, Marysvale, Junction, and Circleville. On the eastern side of the fire, the smoke was extremely heavy Wednesday afternoon — to the point where it obscured the ridgeline along Highway 89.
