It's fair to say that today fintech has become firmly entrenched within society and our economy. I like to say that it’s ‘crossed the chasm’: as founders, we spent the early days explaining to people what fintech was, what our product was, and why it was worth listening to us. That chasm in the understanding of fintechs, other businesses and the public, was crossed some time ago. But that doesn’t mean the industry has finished evolving.

As the year 2022 has finally begun the question related to cryptocurrency and services related to it is going to be on the top of everyone's mind. Overall, bitcoin has been rather successful last year. From the beginning to the end of 2021, digital currency has increased by about 70%, bringing the total worth of the crypto market to $2 trillion.

The energy and commodity markets are constantly changing, and have recently experienced extreme fluctuations in price due to global gas shortages, post-lockdown industrial demand, and low wind generation in Europe. Whilst volatility is expected in energy trading markets, market participants such as utilities, industrial firms and trading houses are increasingly facing a higher frequency of extreme events.
