I did not work for the high school newspaper, but I did work for the college newspaper.

My stories on Vanessa Williams, Howie Mandel, Angela Davis and Harry Belefonte.

Get as involved as you can — work for the school paper and freelance all the time.

I'm always open to taking pitches.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
A reporter once pitched an article on why on-mountain dining in Vail is so expensive. turned out to be very interesting.

Listening to music (live or recorded), taking in a movie, out on the town enjoying food, etc.

I'm constantly reading Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
People think entertainment journalism is "fluff" or "unimportant," when in reality, it's a documentation of culture.
