Someone tried to pitch a story on medical devices which is not my beat. When I explained this their response "but this is really important"

A very cold bottle of Topo Chico water - so refreshing in a hot state like Arizona!

At the mall researching!

I read a lot of publications. The WSJ, CNBC, CNN are my first ports of call. I love industry sites like Retail Dive.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I cover all kinds of technology. I don't. I only look at technologies related to retail.
