Background Joint hypermobility is defined as movement of joints beyond their normal range of motion, and is typically caused by a collagen deficiency. When joint hypermobility occurs in combination with other symptoms and affects an individual’s daily life, it is often diagnosed as joint hypermobility syndrome (JHS).
