HOME protocol for a national online survey of people who inject drugs - Harm Reduction Journal
This study aims to enroll, using online recruitment methods, a convenience sample of 1233 adult PWID located in the US who have not used mail-based harm reduction services in the past 6 months. We have targeted sampling goals to obtain a sample that has sufficient representation of Black PWID, Hispanic PWID, women who inject drugs, and rural PWID to allow for subgroup analysis of these traditionally underserved PWID populations.
Establishing a community advisory board to align harm reduction research with the unique needs of Black and Latine communities - Harm Reduction Journal
Death rates from opioid-involved drug use among Black, Latine, and Indigenous Americans are increasing more quickly than death rates for White people despite comparable rates of opioid use across these groups [1,2,3]. Drivers of these escalating mortality rates are steeped in structural racism, including inequitable distribution of medication for addiction treatment and limited access to quality culturally informed treatment programs and harm reduction services [3,4,5].
