What was your first job as a journalist?
Covering Zoom meetings of the South Hadley Planning Board for Turley Publications in Western Massachusetts.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means being a good learner and a good writer. It means finding the truth and presenting that truth in an accessible way.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Nothing much fancier than Google Docs, unless I'm working on a sports stats personal project, in which case I'm muddling through RStudio.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter, unfortunately
Why did you become a journalist?
I always wanted to be a storyteller, and journalism is a chance to tell real stories that matter to real people.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Start a blog that nobody will read and stick with it! Something I wish I had done/would do a better job at myself.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On a walk or on the road! I love getting my steps in but I also love getting behind the wheel, sometimes just to clear my head.
