Police on Wednesday identified a deceased woman they found in a Fresno canal earlier in May. The Fresno Police Department identified the victim as Georgianna McGhee, 50, of Fresno. Investigators have ruled McGhee’s death a homicide, police said in Wednesday’s update. Officers removed McGhee from the canal near Nielsen and Hughes avenues around 11:45 p.m. May 10.

Update: One person killed in CA shooting that involved Tulare County deputies

One person was killed in a shooting that involved Tulare County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Wednesday morning in Tulare. It was not immediately clear who was shot or by whom, but the California Department of Justice in an update sent at 4:20 p.m. confirmed that incident “resulted in the death of one individual.” The state agency also confirmed it was taking over investigation of the fatal shooting.

Schools in Fresno, Clovis and Reedley swatted with false threats on same day

(Nick Fenley) At least four high schools in the Fresno area received unsubstantiated threats on Wednesday, leading to shelter-in-place orders and police responses. Two Fresno Unified sites — Bullard and Fresno high schools — were targeted by bomb threats, according to a ParentSquare announcement from the district.
