NHS exec skewers own legal case
Adam Doyle gives evidence in Redvers v NHS Sussex Adam Doyle, former NHS Sussex CEO An NHS exec accepted in court today that a key element of his defence against a gender critical doctor’s discrimination claim was “absurd”. He also accepted he was aware of concerns that a transgender GP, Dr Sam Hall, was prescribing hormones to children in contravention of the policies put in place by the organisation he ran.
NHS knew of concerns about trans Dr in 2020
Whistleblower told NHS Sussex and NHS England of problems with Dr Sam Hall’s methods and was accused of transphobia. Dr Sam Hall, former clinical lead at WellBN Brighton An NHS Doctor raised the alarm about the activities of Dr Sam Hall in 2020, a full five years before NHS Sussex started an investigation into Brighton’s WellBN clinic – which concluded it had it caused “actual potential harm” to its young patients and “fell substantially below” the professional standards of care required.

Peggie v RCN Day 7: Closing Submissions
Let’s go to work. Naomi Cunningham and David Hay KC. Pic Iain Masterton Today was the final day of the Peggie v RCN employmeny tribunal in which Nurse Sandie Peggie is making three claims against her union, the Royal College of Nursing.
Peggie v RCN Day 6: Patricia Marquis
Patricia Marquis, Executive Director of RCN England. Pic Iain Masterton Patricia Marquis, the Executive Director of the Royal College of Nursing in England is quite obviously an intelligent, personable and compassionate individual with the requisite element of corporate steel required to reach the higher echelons of large organisation. At times today she was at a loss to answer some of the questions being put to her by Sandie Peggie’s barrister, Naomi Cunningham.

Peggie v RCN Day 3: unProvan
The RCN’s Norman Provan arriving this morning at the Dundee Employment Tribunal. Pic: Iain Masterton I want to focus my Day 3 report on a specific passage of cross-examination which to my mind went beyond the (undoubtedly very important) rights and wrongs of Sandie Peggie’s claim against the RCN. It demonstrated the effectiveness of using a courtroom to hold power to account. Norman Provan was today’s only witness.
Peggie v RCN Day 2: Trans-Organisational Madness

Peggie v RCN: “I want this to be a wake-up call”
Sandie Peggie on the promenade in Kirkcaldy, Fife. Photo: Iain Masterton This is an expanded and re-edited version of the interview which appeared in the Sunday Times on 20 September: Although she seems a little weary when we speak, there’s a certain steel about Sandie Peggie. “I do feel like a poster girl,” she says. “I’m kind of glad that I’m at the forefront of it.” It requires some explanation.
NHS Wales to review “paused” surgeries by Christmas
St David’s Hosptial in Cardiff, home of the Welsh Gender Service Around sixty people whose gender surgeries were cancelled by NHS Wales are expected to have a review into their necessity completed by the end of December. NHS Wales is currently undertaking an “urgent independent clinical review” of all patients on the Welsh Gender Service surgery waiting lists due to, among other things, its incredibly high surgery referral rate compared to the rest of the UK.
Former Gender Clinician: “It’s pseudo-medicine”
Shortly after publishing the piece which flagged the Welsh Gender Service as a potential Service of Concern (now a fully fledged Actual Concern) I received an email from a former gender clinician I had briefly met in London earlier this year. Let’s call her Anna. Anna worked at an adult gender clinic between 2016 and 2019 and still works in the NHS. When I met her, I asked if she would consider doing an interview. At the time she politely declined, but took my card.
A transsexual writes…
Over the past couple of years I’ve been corresponding with a couple of older male transsexuals. They are courteous types who have watched in horror at what they see as the politicisation of the environment around their identities. Both are post-op and have Gender Recognition Certificates. Before what Róisín Michaux calls “the great entrooning”, both felt less under scrutiny to the extent they passed and/or were tolerated by their local communities.
BBC Gender Apology Row
Now they’re in trouble. Sex Matters. (l-r) Dr Helen Joyce, Maya Forstater and Fiona McAnena I am not a defund the BBC sort, but I can understand the frustrations of those who are. I have spoken at length (here, here and here) about the BBC consciously lying to (and therefore losing the trust of) its audience, and I will never forgive its treatment of the heroic Cath Leng. However, there are some good people inside it, trying to make a difference.

WGS patient Sion Jewell on BBC Wales on Tuesday We are starting to get a tiny bit more information as to why NHS Wales’ senior body, the Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) has cancelled all surgeries referred by the Welsh Gender Service, the only NHS adult gender clinic in Wales.
