New Published June 14, 2026 1:47 PM Daytime temperatures struggled to reach the mid 70s across Southeast Colorado Sunday afternoon. A one-two shot of cooler air this last weekend brought the cooler weather, along with afternoon storms across the region. One or two storms will hit the south end of Colorado Springs, mainly around the Fort Carson area. Expect brief, heavy rainfall with these storms and 30 mile per hour wind gusts. Small hail is a possibility as well. By nightfall, skies will clear up.

It won't be just Colorado that experiences this unusual summerlike weather. Many locations across the Central Plains will be hot and humid as well. We're now turning out attention to high fire danger in Huerfano and Freemont Counties until 7 PM Sunday night.

Published June 6, 2026 1:04 PM A fairly strong high pressure center over the southern Plains States continues to pump in warm and mainly dry air across our state. Isolated afternoon and evening thundershowers will continue to pop up close to the Southern Foothills during the afternoon. It's possible that one or two will drift eastward across the Colorado Springs and Pueblo areas during the late evening, but the main threat will be brief gusty winds.
