Burn bans, restrictions downgraded in El Paso County, Colorado Springs, officials say

Fire restrictions will go from stage 2 to stage 1 in the county starting 1 p.m. Friday, the Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release. The burn ban in Colorado Springs will change to burn restrictions at noon, according to a separate release.

Colorado Springs weather: Record could fall Friday ahead of forecast rain, storms over the weekend

Temperatures in Colorado Springs could break or tie the daily high of 94 degrees, National Weather Service meteorologists report. Further south, Pueblo could break 100 degrees. Meteorologist Casey Dorn of Gazette news partner KOAA said skies will be mainly clear Friday morning and partly cloudy this afternoon.

Man allegedly forced another to drive from Castle Rock to Colorado Springs

After being found in Colorado Springs, the man told officers that he had gotten off work in Castle Rock sometime Thursday evening when another man approached him and entered his car, indicating or feigning he had a possible gun by holding an object in his jacket pocket.
