Investigation launched into suspected bird poisoning in Gold Coast park

More than 30 birds, primarily ibis, have died in a Gold Coast park over the past three days. Animal rescue group WIRES says it appears the birds have been deliberately poisoned. The Department of Environment, Tourism, Sciene and Innovation has launched an investigation alongside the RSPCA. The RSPCA has launched an investigation after more than 30 native birds were found dead in a suburban Gold Coast park frequented by children and dog walkers.

Gold Coast Schoolies celebrations set to be scaled back and subdued

Schoolies celebrations on the Gold Coast will be scaled back for the first time this year due to ongoing beach erosion in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The state government and Gold Coast Council have confirmed graduates will still be able to party on the beach when celebrations kick off next weekend, November 22.

Expert tips for used-car buyers to spot 'widespread' odometer tampering

Odometer tampering is "very widespread," according to the peak body for the automotive sales and service industry, which has issued a fresh warning to second-hand car buyers. The warning comes after a used-car salesman was fined $25,000 and had his licence suspended for five years for winding back a total of 648,000 kilometres on the odometers of seven vehicles, inflating their value by $64,000.
