Labour has finally turned on the Greens. Why did it take so long?
All it has taken is a few opinion polls, a referral to the equality watchdog and a threat of legal action for Andy Burnham's Labour to realise that, when it comes to the Greens, perhaps there is a red line for stirring up Jew hatred. It was after all Burnham who, in one of his first acts as Prime Minister, apologised for the previous government daring to stand up for Israel in the aftermath of the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023.
The Day I was Attacked by Fascists
Yesterday afternoon was spent going through video footage from the moments when I was attacked by today’s biggest Jew haters. I was sending them to a police officer. Any thoughts I’d tried to convince myself of - that the racist attack hadn’t impacted me were dispelled by the fact my heart was racing as I watched the videos. I try to see myself as pretty fearless, stupidly so, it turns out. Since October 7, I’ve gone from a red-carpet sort of journalist to a flak-jacket warzone one.
‘Let them hate me': Why Boy George refuses to be cancelled for a pro-Jewish song
Boy George doesn't mind the odd scrap. Some former friends might even say he rather enjoys them. Whether it's JK Rowling , Madonna, George Michael or his former bandmate and lover Jon Moss, the list of those scratched by George's unsheathed talons is long. So when he waded into the feverish debate over the Israel-Hamas conflict with a song beginning “You say genocide, I say war,” he knew it might attract the ire of those waging a propaganda war against the Jewish state.

The Palestinians have played the West for fools, and here’s the awful proof
Ever so occasionally, the utopian Palestine of the liberal imagination and the Palestine that actually exists are forced to come into conflict. One such moment came last weekend when the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, 20 years into his four-year term, once again cancelled democratic elections across the territories. The presidential and legislative elections were due to be held at the end of November, and they have been pushed back by almost a year.
How surrogacy became the new frontier of the culture wars
"Gestational carrier" and "extreme babysitter" might sound like euphemisms for pregnant women prescribed by the trans lobby, which has long sought to erase feminine terms that are insufficiently inclusive. They are, in fact, terms being pushed by companies and activists operating in what is increasingly becoming another area of the culture wars: surrogacy. Demand for surrogates has never been higher.

I saw for myself the vicious hatred of the anti-Zionist mob
I've reported on the murders and the terrorist attacks. I've documented the disease in our schools, our universities, our NHS, and our unions. I've received all the online abuse. But until Sunday I had never experienced the full wall of demented hatred that is anti-Zionism.
Ninety years on from Cable Street, Jews aren’t welcome in the East End
You may remember that far-away time when appropriating stuff from ethnic minorities could get you cancelled. Daring to decorate your hair in Bantu knots? White supremacist! The nation's most cheeky chappy chef making jerk rice? Cultural appropriation! And then Oct 7, 2023 happened, and all the cool kids started dressing like Palestinian terrorists, and everyone applauded them. On the other side of that equation, we Jews have bounced around too long to care too much about appropriation.

Anti-Zionists are the real racists
At their annual conference this weekend, the Greens will have an important decision to make. Are they really willing to be known as the most racist mainstream party in British history? This is no exaggeration. Having been infiltrated by Gaza-obsessed anti-Semitic entryists, at their conference this weekend the party will debate the motion "Zionism is racism". The briefing paper for the motion is quite extraordinary.

Jewish group barred from anti-fascist event because they gave platform to a Reform speaker
A Jewish group has been barred from a 90th anniversary commemoration of when fascists were chased out of Leeds, because they 'platformed a Reform speaker'. Stop The Hate Leeds, a pro-Israel campaign group, was told its presence at the event on Sunday would be 'divisive' due to its members' political views.
I was in the room when Polanski threw British Jews under the bus
If tomatoes had been handy, they may have been thrown. Instead, the smattering of British Jews who finally got to challenge Zack Polanski on his dangerous rhetoric had only their voices. And they became increasingly louder, the mood more febrile as three years of anger was aimed at the man who kosherises his party’s anti-Semitism. “Shame! Shame!” was screamed out at the Green Party leader at the Jewish hustings for the Holborn and St Pancras by-election, in which he hopes to become an MP.

What happened to Nadiya Hussain?
Once upon a time Nadiya Hussain was the poster girl for just how open and multicultural our society apparently was. After winning The Great British Bake Off in 2015, the second-generation British Bangladeshi became a major TV star and an award-winning author. Buckingham Palace asked her to bake a cake for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, she was awarded an MBE and a university doctorate. She seemed on her way to national treasure status.
John Thomson: 'My tough year'
John Thomson likes an ordered life. His books and wardrobes are colour-coded. He makes lists of what he plans to do each day and what he is going to eat. Then he ticks them off as he goes. Without fail, there is 20 minutes of callisthenics exercise – if he's on tour, his mat comes with him. Then time spent on the language app Duolingo – he's already got to the top level in Italian and is now moving on to Spanish. And then there is the food.
The Mackle-morons are not supporting justice, but hatred
This is what it feels like when you are Jewish and you are in the middle of a crowd that starts chanting "Free Palestine": your heart starts beating faster. Your hands grow clammy. Your legs start to shake involuntarily. Your body perceives danger; you are in flight mode.

The truth about Palestinians’ eternal victimhood
With the chest-beating pride of a footballer who has scored a hat-trick, Andy Burnham lauded himself for taking leadership "on the world stage" after standing up for "the underdog" Palestinians with his sanctions against Israel. "We will always stand with the underdog and take what action we can to support them," the Prime Minister proclaimed. He spoke as if a complex conflict that has lasted nearly 100 years was simply another iteration of the facile victim-versus-aggressor narrative.
I Want to Curl Up And Cry
The anger has waned. Burnt itself through. Now I just feel hollowed out. It feels rather lonely in this part of the diaspora. It feels rather worrying. Since October 7, when we saw people on the streets of London celebrating that Jews were being murdered, my soul has been split in two. As a journalist, I was speaking to people in Israel: survivors, those who had lost loved ones, parents of hostages. My heart was broken – my heart actually hurt. I would wake up crying, my hands curled up into fists.
Ed Miliband isn’t a ‘Jew hater’, but he is trying to appease people who are
The audacious cynicism is enough to make you wince while clapping your hands slowly in admiration. Just hours after Andy Burnham sat with Jewish leaders who warned him of the need to reject anyone inciting hatred amid rising anti-Semitism, Ed Miliband was putting out a new video hinting at the supposed evils of Israel.

The academic case for blaming the Southport riots on Zionism is chilling
It is a question that every Jewish parent will have to answer at least once: “Why do people hate the Jews?” The answer we try to give our children can be manifold, depressing and unsatisfactory: We have always been “other”. For centuries, Christians were taught to hate us for “killing Christ”, and the sentiment remains. We punch above our weight. But it feels like there must be more. Two examples this week served as a reminder about what underlines the obsessive popularity of anti-Semitism.

The Palestinian branded a genocide supporter for condemning Hamas
He has the word "Zionist" screamed at him. He is branded a genocide supporter. He is called a traitor. When Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib goes to talk at university campuses, sometimes he doesn't even get as far as opening his mouth. As a result of protests from "pro-Palestinians", several colleges have simply cancelled his talks, citing the threat of "security interruptions". Yet Alkhatib is a Palestinian from Gaza who has lost 33 members of his immediate and extended family in the war.

Lowe once fought alongside me for Israel. Now Restore poses a grave threat to Britain’s Jews
There is a new far-Right movement that has crept up so stealthily that it's only now, with Restore chipping away at Reform's popularity, that its full, ugly, naked underbelly has been exposed. It seemed to begin life as the tantrum of a grown man: former Reform MP Rupert Lowe, who fell out spectacularly with Nigel Farage and then formally launched his new party. But, over the last few months, the brutality of its politics, the nastiness of its message, has become clear.
Can I forgive an ex-Nazi who shows remorse? Not yet
This appears to be the season of forgiving people when it comes to allegations of anti-Semitism. It is only a week since Andy Burnham readmitted Diane Abbot to the Labour party. This was after she wrote, and then doubled down on her muddle-headed thoughts that Jews don't experience proper racism – comparing it instead to the prejudice redheads face.
The bizarre alliance between the anti-Zionist Greens and Hackney’s ultra-Orthodox Jews Original
Simche Steinberger has been a Conservative councillor on Hackney council for 20 years – one of six representing the borough's ultra-orthodox Haredi community. He's seen many things during his time as a councillor, but on Tuesday night, he had a front-row seat as the new kids in town – the Greens – took pride of place at their first full council meeting. In the May election, the former Labour stronghold went Green. It was a wipeout – 42 of the 67 councillors are now Green.
There was a genocidal attack in the Middle East, but nobody cares about its victims
The details are almost too tragic to record, but these are the facts: shortly after attending his brother's wedding, Bar Asraf drove to the grave of his girlfriend Liron Barda and took his own life. Barda was murdered at the Nova festival nearly three years ago: she was working behind the bar at the trance festival, when it was invaded by Hamas in the early hours of October 7, 2023.
Britain’s Jews have been betrayed by mass migration
This is the third essay of a six-part series on race and integration in Britain. Each day this week our writers are examining issues relating to the black British, Muslim and Jewish populations, along with the role of the Church of England and a perspective from America. Nicole will be responding to your comments from 11:30am. Two weeks after the October 7 Hamas massacre of Israelis in 2023, an imam led a prayer at the Redbridge Islamic Centre in east London.
Why Our Institutions are Falling for the Omnicause
Growing up, there were certain institutions that seemed to be on the side of good. Institutions that could be trusted. One was the UN. Another was the BBC. A third was Amnesty International. Jews have a kind of superpower created by necessity: we are more aware of the way the winds are changing. As a community, we have to be on our guard. Over the years, we have seen some of our most trusted institutions being hollowed out by dangerous ideologies.

How Amnesty turned its back on free speech
As the granddaughter of Sean MacBride, Amnesty's late co-founder and international chairman, Iseult White feels the human-rights charity is part of her DNA. In the Seventies and Eighties, the pre-Christmas period at home was always spent writing to various prisoners of conscience around the world, and supporters of Amnesty's work were always in and out of her grandparents' house.

What really caused Madonna and daughter Lourdes’ ‘tense’ relationship — and why she is still singing about Sean Penn Original
At nearly 68, Madonna looks like she will elbow past Gen-Z hitmakers Olivia Rodrigo and Ella Langley to have the #1 Billboard album this coming week. And she did it by getting more personal than ever in the lyrics for “Confessions on a Dance Floor Part II,” with songs believed to be about her late brother, stepmother, and ex-husband Sean Penn, who Madonna sings was “threatened by” her.

Enough of Virtue Signalling Politicians
In a couple of weeks, Britain will have a new Prime Minister. Andy Burnham will be elected by his politicians via what could be seen as a left-wing coup from within his party. He and his comrades have been plotting his return to power - he wasn’t even a Member of Parliament a few weeks ago - for at least a year. That is, they have been plotting almost exactly since Labour won a landslide election.
Foreign donors ‘funding hate on Britain’s streets’ Original
Pro-Palestine marches are being funded by a complex web of foreign donors and state actors, a report reveals. The report by the US charity watchdog NGO Monitor found examples of Iran and American far-Left groups bankrolling anti-Israel groups in the UK, creating an "ecosystem" of disruption. It also found cryptocurrency was increasingly being used to hide funding sources for organisations accused of anti-Semitism, with gift aid also being used by these organisations.
I was a witness in Prince Harry’s hacking case – and saw his desperation
Perhaps the most bizarre moment in Prince Harry's hacking case for me, as I sat being questioned by the increasingly desperate barrister in front of me, was when he appeared to suggest I had hacked the police to find out how much it was costing to secure Elton John's wedding. I was astounded by this frankly insane line of questioning and told him as much.

Who’s bad? Michael Jackson has been saved by the post-truth era
The Michael Jackson film has become the highest-grossing biopic of all time - Glen Wilson/Lionsgate Perhaps it’s just that some people are just too big to cancel. Or perhaps it is that many prefer to indulge in fantasy. We are in a post-truth era, after all, when realistic footage of celebrities has been created by AI and facts about biology – what is a male, what is a female – are up for grabs.
The Time I Challenged The Charming Hater
This was a prime specimen of a champagne socialist. He hints of coming from artistocratic stock: frequently drops in his friends have castles and chateaux. He has a cut glass accent and a fascination with sports cars. Drops names. A lot. Reads The Guardian, believing all right-thinking people must. Acts the gentleman, pretends to be charming: at least until you challenge him. Brays with laughter at his own jokes. Is 50-something child desperate to impress. I wonder if Jews make him uncomfortable.

This UN report on Israeli ‘genocide’ revives the anti-Semitic blood libel
Just before Easter in 1144, a boy called William, an apprentice skinner and tanner, was found murdered in Norwich. It appeared the English boy had been tortured and gagged before being killed. Attention quickly turned to the town's Jewish population. William had been offered a job by a strange man claiming to work with the Archdeacon of Norwich; it was rumoured the boy and the man had last been seen entering the house of a local Jew.
