1 Introduction Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) secretion is an energy-dependent process mediated primarily by the choroid plexus epithelium [1, 2]. The choroid plexus is located in each of the four brain ventricles, where it forms the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB) and accounts for approximately 80% of total CSF secretion [3-5]. In humans, CSF is secreted at a rate of 0.4 mL/min.
