When Bushey resident Caroline England was told she had been given the opportunity to take part in the Paralympic torch relay next week, she said she could barely contain her excitement. But the 30-year-old has had further cause for celebration after finding out she will also play a part in the Paralympic opening ceremony. Caroline, who lives in Clapgate Road, works with children of all abilities as creative director of Herts Inclusive Theatre, providing drama, music and theatre skills and support for disabled and non-disabled youngsters. Because of her work in this area, she was nominated by Herts Inclusive Theatre chairman Patrick Moloney to take part in the Paralympic celebrations and relay.

Pupils at a school in St Albans have achieved a place in the Guinness World Records by creating self portraits to be projected onto Buckingham Palace. Wheatfields Infant School in Downes Road took part in Face Britain, a scheme headed by the Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts. The children designed pictures of themselves which were projected onto the palace for three nights in April as part of the Queen's birthday celebrations. Sarah FitzGerald, a teacher at the school, said: "It's been wonderful to be involved in the UK's largest ever art project and great to know that the portraits will become part of history.
