AI's Taking Over? Let's Talk About How It's Shaking Up Our Jobs
Hey everyone, ever feel like the world’s changing faster than you can keep up? Well, you’re not wrong! One of the biggest game-changers out there right now is Artificial Intelligence – you know, AI. It’s not just in sci-fi movies anymore; it’s creeping into pretty much every corner of our lives, and a massive one is how we work. So, let’s have a real talk about how AI is messing with – and sometimes making it better – today’s job market.
Historicising the Animal-Human Relationship
Samiparna Samanta’s Meat, Mercy, and Morality: Animals and Humanitarianism in Colonial Bengal, 1850–1920 examines how animal cruelty intersects with the histories of public health, sanitation, environmental ethics, urban spaces, and knowledge systems. By historicising the relationship between animals and humans, this study shows how identities were forged between the ruler and the ruled in colonial Bengal based on non-human relationships.
South Asian women pushing back against rape culture
With its historical patriarchal values, complicated by disparities in caste, class, religion, and ethnicity, South Asia has long been an oppressive environment for women. All these forces have resulted in massive upheavals often manifested in political, economic, and social crises.
The Indian Mission of the Institute of Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM) Nuns: Convents, Curriculum, and Indian Women
Abstract This study focuses on the Indian mission of IBVM nuns, and the role played by them in the spread of female education in India. While acknowledging that missionaries were part of the imperial process, this study analyzes the work of Catholic nuns in India, their convents, and curriculum to show how their work advanced women’s educational opportunities in India. In the process the study examines how Catholic nuns resisted the dominating attitude of the Catholic Church in India.
Impact of Red October
In this short but timely monograph, Vijay Prashad examines the impact of the October Revolution on the Third World. He states that the book is not a comprehensive study but provides an insight into the significance of the revolution for the working classes and the peasantry living under colonial domination. Chapters 1 and 2, titled “Eastern Graves” and “Red October” respectively, examine Lenin’s views on communism and provide an overview of how the Bolsheviks came to power.
