Spinons, solitons and random-singlet-like behaviours in the spin-chain compound copper benzoate
Abstract The S = 1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain is a paradigmatic quantum system hosting exotic excitations. Using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) on copper benzoate, we characterise three distinct types of excitations by tuning the magnetic field at ultra-low temperatures. At 0.2 T, a nearly constant spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T1) and a divergence-like spin-spin relaxation rate (1/T2G) upon cooling provide experimental evidence for spinon excitations.

Giant magnetocaloric effect and spin supersolid in a metallic dipolar magnet - Nature
|
Abstract The spin supersolid—a magnetic analogue of the supersolid that simultaneously exhibits solid and superfluid orders—has emerged as a promising sub-Kelvin refrigerant with strong low-energy fluctuations and associated entropic effects1. However, the stringent prerequisites have so far confined its presence to certain magnetic insulators.

Superacidic Aluminum Azido Species: Precursor to Triazolyl Dimers, Trimers and Tetramers
Superacidic Aluminum Azido Species: Precursor to Triazolyl Dimers, Trimers and Tetramers The aluminum-azido species (Me3SiN3)Al(C6F5)3 thermally converts to [(C6F5)2Al(-N3)]2 2. Further reactions with Me3SiN3 afforded [(C6F5)2Al(-N3)2]3Al which contains an unique four Al centers bound to six bridging azides.
LFL-COBC: Lightweight Federated Learning on Blockchain-Based Device Contribution Allocation
1. Introduction With the introduction of a large number of intelligent and unmanned equipment, and with the program structure of equipment being too complex—making the maintenance and overhaul of industrial equipment more and more complex—artificial intelligence real-time anomaly monitoring for distributed industrial equipment is the future development trend [1]. However, nowadays, many industries have put forward higher requirements for the ability of industrial equipment to provide services.

Magnetocaloric effect of topological excitations in Kitaev magnets - Nature Communications
Abstract Traditional magnetic sub-Kelvin cooling relies on the nearly free local moments in hydrate paramagnetic salts, whose utility is hampered by the dilute magnetic ions and low thermal conductivity. Here we propose to use instead fractional excitations inherent to quantum spin liquids (QSLs) as an alternative, which are sensitive to external fields and can induce a very distinctive magnetocaloric effect.
Shear stiffening gel-enabled twisted string for bio-inspired robot actuators - Scientific Reports
Abstract A rotary motor combined with fibrous string demonstrates excellent performance because it is powerful, lightweight, and prone to large strokes; however, the stiffness range and force-generating capability of twisted string transmission systems are limited. Here, we present a variable stiffness artificial muscle generated by impregnating shear stiffening gels (STGs) into a twisted string actuator (TSA).
Giant magnetocaloric effect in spin supersolid candidate Na2BaCo(PO4)2 - Nature

Abstract Supersolid, an exotic quantum state of matter that consists of particles forming an incompressible solid structure while simultaneously showing superfluidity of zero viscosity1, is one of the long-standing pursuits in fundamental research2,3. Although the initial report of 4He supersolid turned out to be an artefact4, this intriguing quantum matter has inspired enthusiastic investigations into ultracold quantum gases5,6,7,8.

A one-third magnetization plateau phase as evidence for the Kitaev interaction in a honeycomb-lattice antiferromagnet - Nature Physics
Abstract The magnetization of a quantum magnet can be pinned at a fraction of its saturated value by collective effects. One example of such a plateau phase is found in spin-1/2 triangular-lattice antiferromagnets. They feature strong geometrical frustration and the plateau phase therein is often interpreted as arising from an order-by-disorder mechanism driven by quantum fluctuations.
Plaquette Singlet Transition, Magnetic Barocaloric Effect, and Spin Supersolidity in the Shastry-Sutherland Model
Inspired by recent experimental measurements [Guo et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 124, 206602 (2020); Jiménez et al., Nature (London) 592, 370 (2021)] on frustrated quantum magnet SrCu2(BO3)2 under combined pressure and magnetic fields, we study the related spin-1/2 Shastry-Sutherland model using state-of-the-art tensor network methods.
Water | Free Full-Text | Avalanche Susceptibility Mapping by Investigating Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Snow Cover Based on Remote Sensing Imagery along the Pemo Highway-A Critical Transportation Road in Tibet, China
4.1. Extraction of Conditioning Factors for Avalanches This paper develops six avalanche conditioning factors in terms of snow, topography, meteorology, and vegetation. In fact, the three meteorological factors of temperature, wind speed, and precipitation all influence the occurrence of avalanches [30]. However, due to the fact that the study area is small, the differences in temperature and wind speed are generally consistent across the study area, while there are differences in precipitation.
Nature of the 1/9-magnetization plateau in the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ kagome Heisenberg antiferromagnet
Abstract The nature of the 1/9-magnetization plateau of the spin-12 kagome Heisenberg antiferromagnet remains controversial due to the exotic physical properties and high complexity induced by the geometrical frustration. Instead of a Z3 quantum spin liquid revealed on a cylinder, we show on an infinite-size lattice that the 1/9 plateau can be described by a valence bond crystal (VBC) that breaks spatial translational invariance.
Machine Learning Approaches for Slope Deformation Prediction Based on Monitored Time-Series Displacement Data: A Comparative Investigation
5.2. Comparative Analysis of the Model Characteristics Based on Prediction Results Typically, the prediction performance of the model is mainly affected by the model characteristics and the original displacement data. The analysis of the influence of the characteristics of the models on the prediction results is as follows. The ARIMA statistical method was effective for predicting short-term stationary time-series data.

Porphyrin‐based Donor-Acceptor Covalent Organic Polymer/ZnIn2S4 Z‐Scheme Heterostructure for Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution
Abstract The construction of a Z-scheme photocatalytic system is significant in realizing efficient water splitting for hydrogen (H2) evolution. Herein, a novel donor–acceptor covalent organic polymer (COP) is introduced to construct a COP-ZnIn2S4 (ZIS) heterostructure via in situ condensation reaction. The COP-ZIS heterostructure with platinum (Pt) as cocatalyst delivers a high hydrogen evolution rate of 5.04 mmol g−1 h−1, which is 16 and 3 times higher than ZIS and Pt/ZIS, respectively.

Dynamical signatures of the one-dimensional deconfined quantum critical point
Significant quantum fluctuations in low-dimensional spin frustrated systems can give rise to novel quantum phases and exotic quantum phase transitions.[1–5] One substantial difference from the classical systems is that in these quantum spin systems, some phases can not be characterized by conventional order parameters with broken symmetry. Correspondingly, quantum phase transitions may be beyond the standard Landau–Ginzburg–Wilson (LGW) paradigm.
