We thank Bi et al1 for their interest in and comments on our recent publication2 which examined the genomic landscape of lung cancer in never-smokers. As pointed out, we observed significant differences between the composition of our never-smoker and smoker cohorts. Although such differences in cohort composition can introduce a selection bias in the reported findings, it is unlikely to have influenced the estimation of genomic aberrations between these cohorts in our study.
Association of PET-based estradiol-challenge test for breast cancer progesterone receptors with response to endocrine therapy
Abstract Estrogen receptor (ER) testing of breast cancer imperfectly predicts response to endocrine therapy (ET). We hypothesize that a brief estradiol challenge will increase tumor progesterone receptor (PgR) levels only in tumors with functional ER.
