How is social media changing news?
It is empowering all of us to become, in a sense, journalists. Now we just need to become better consumers of news.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
We have a large responsibility to educate and inform. We must approach every moment at work, no matter how busy we are, with that in mind.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I'm a big fan of open source - I run my own cloud, use wordpress, TOR, Libreoffice, and avoid Google.
Why did you become a journalist?
Simply, to tell stories. Since I was young I loved writing and journalism, when done right, is a powerful tool to tell stories.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
You need luck, and skills. Luck is the break you get, but skills are what you need to take advantage of that break.
