Lansing begins cleanup and repairs after EF-1 tornado damages multiple homes

People in south suburban Lansing on Tuesday were still reeling from the damage wrought by a tornado that touched down during Monday afternoon's storms. The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado with peak winds near 110 mph touched down in Lansing on Monday. The damage appeared to be the worst on 192nd Place, where neighbors are grateful to be alive.

Severe storms uproot trees, damage roofs in south suburban Lansing

Several homes were damaged in south suburban Lansing on Monday as severe storms pounded the Chicago area. Lansing was one of the areas hit hardest by storms that prompted several tornado warnings, and reports of wind gusts between 90 and 100 mph. Several homes were damaged in the storm. The roof of at least one home was ripped off near 192nd and Oakwood. Several large trees also were uprooted.
