The Chicago Fire Football Club hosted a watch party for the U.S. vs. Australia World Cup game Friday afternoon. The team estimated up to 1,000 people came out to watch the U.S. Men's National Team win 2-0 to clinch a spot in the knockout round. Fans set up lawn chairs on the pitch, decked out in USA gear from head to toe. The U.S .got off to a quick start with their first goal just 11 minutes into the game and then scored again before the end of the first half.

The work is not only a salute to the South Side, but a way to honor the work of a local artist who got his start with Ebony Magazine. Howard Simmons, now 83 years old, is a self-taught photographer whose work was featured in Ebony Magazine and the Chicago Sun-Times. Examining his life's work now, he sees it in a new light.

Woman says parents concerned about more severe storms after home destroyed by EF-3 tornado

Nearly a week after a tornado devastated homes in Streator, Illinois, the risk of more severe storms left some residents worried. Some barely had a chance to recover. The good news is that skies have since cleared, but for much of Wednesday morning and afternoon, residents in Streator, about 90 miles southwest of Chicago and already ravaged by an EF-3 tornado, were getting pummeled with rain. For one couple, debris is all that's left after the storm.
