A unique museum in Gosport has taken a step closer to opening after permission for a fence was approved. The much-anticipated opening of the only UK dedicated Diving Museum at No 2 Battery in Stokes Bay Road is on track for May this year. Gosport Borough Council’s regulatory board, on January 28 approved two planning applications. First to erect a fence to the rear of the Grade II listed Victorian gun battery on the seafront.

Council-owned land could soon help developers meet new environmental planning requirements. Eastleigh Borough Council is exploring whether 93 hectares of its land can be used to generate biodiversity and nutrient credits, which developers would purchase to offset the environmental impact of construction projects.
