ALBANY - Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers will lose their health insurance coverage this week after cuts set in motion by President Donald J. Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" last year. The cuts affect just under 450,000 people enrolled in the Essential Plan, a taxpayer-subsidized healthcare plan established under the federal Affordable Care Act for low-income New Yorkers who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford private insurance.
