What was your first job as a journalist?
When I graduated from college, I worked for a few years for The Christian Science Monitor's TV programs in Boston and Washington, D.C.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Of course! I trained on a manual, became proficient on an electric, and typed all but one of my college papers on a typewriter.
How is social media changing news?
In a good way, we're hearing from a broader array of individuals. On the downside, too much news is published before verified.

Can't think of any.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means being responsible to the public, always acting (and writing) with integrity.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Salesforce is my primary "go to" software... that, and my trusty, ever-present Macbook Air. I also use a pocket-sized digital recorder.

Who do you wish followed you?
Health journalists (reporters, editors, radio & tv producers, etc.) interested in the link between consciousness & health.
Why did you become a journalist?
I want to contribute to the public conversation about health in order to expand coverage of and interest in the link between mind and body.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was a columnist for my high school paper... funny how some things never change.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Generally I'm proud of writing articles that challenge the idea that health care is beholden to drug- and surgery-based medicine.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Hang in there! It take awhile to find your "voice," so don't be discouraged. Write like crazy!
