1. Introduction Viral respiratory infections constitute a large public health problem and are estimated as one of the top causes of death in children <5 years old [1,2,3]. Data from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 (GBD 2019) indicated that 3.97 million people died worldwide in 2019, and 9190 were children under 5 years [4]. These numbers greatly increased after the pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
