Abstract Studies suggest links between diabetes and gastrointestinal (GI) traits; however, their underlying biological mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we comprehensively assess the genetic relationship between type 2 diabetes (T2D) and GI disorders.

Having identified the various cell types in the scRNA-seq and ST datasets, we next focused on gene expression trajectory analysis of the endocrine cells. Reclustering the endocrine component of the combined scRNA-seq data led to identification of 20 sub-clusters ( Figure S7 A) spread across the 10 developmental time points ( Figure S7 B; n = 5,905 cells).

I became aware of the Society for Endocrinology 2 years into my PhD, when my supervisor, Shanta Persaud, suggested that I should apply to become a Student Ambassador. I took on this role at King’s College London from 2015 to 2016, and led a membership campaign. I subsequently attended the Society for Endocrinology Career Development Workshop in 2016, which involved writing and defending a mock research grant proposal in 1 day, under the guidance of a mentor.
