Fast ripple‐delta coupling as an early biomarker for post‐traumatic epileptogenesis in repetitive brain injury
Fast ripple-delta DOWN state coupling detected at 4 days post-TBI distinguished seizure-prone from seizure-free mice. 25% of rdTBI mice developed posttraumatic seizures with highly variable latency ranging from 5 to 126 days postinjury. Spike activity increased 3-fold after seizure onset, yet preseizure spike counts alone did not predict PTE development. Elevated delta/theta and reduced alpha/beta/gamma power created consistent signatures in all seizure-experiencing mice.
