1 Background In the UK, 1 in 13 people living with dementia also have a cancer diagnosis [1]. Research indicates people with DCC have worse outcomes than those with cancer alone, including being more likely to be undiagnosed, experience emergency hospital admissions, and receive fewer oncology referrals [2-4] People with DCC also have complex care needs (e.g., pain), and often, their ability to communicate these needs can be impacted due to the severity of their dementia [5, 6].
