SURF CITY, N.C. (WNCT) — South Shore Dr. in Surf City is reopened after crews worked to secure debris from a house fire. The fire happened Saturday night and sent one firefighter to the hospital, who has since been cleared to be back on duty. The fire made the original structure unstable and a public safety threat, which left crews at the site for nearly two days. Traffic was being diverted through a neighborhood behind South Shore Dr. while it remained closed.

(WNCT) — Camp Lejeune’s Fourth of July celebration is expected to draw 15-20 thousand people Saturday night. “It’s America’s 250th, and what better place to celebrate than in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina with the United States Marine Corps celebrating the birthday of the United States of America,” MCCS Director Lejeune-New River George Williams said. Saturday’s event opens at 4 p.m. and will feature performances from Zach Harrington, Hot Chelle Rae and Dylan Scott.
