Surfing is a worldwide sport that is always on the move, with wave riders chasing rollers across the continents year-round. Ecuadorian surfer Jorge Sangachi is one of those surfers and ran into an unexpected obstacle on Tuesday while checking in to fly home to José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport (GYE) in Ecuador. Sangachi was traveling with four surfboards, but told JetBlue Airways he only had two when asked by the customer service agent.

Passengers often only see the final outcome when a flight is delayed for an unavailable crew member: a departure time moves, a gate agent makes an announcement, and the airline searches for a replacement. Behind the scenes, a scheduling system governed by federal regulations, collective bargaining agreements, seniority rules, and software must constantly reconcile available crews with thousands of flights.

Darrin Roth from Bayside, Wisconsin, has filed a lawsuit against Delta Air Lines claiming he was knocked unconscious during landing when his seatbelt failed. He was traveling with his wife, Geralyn, from Tampa, Florida, to New York City but had to be taken off the plane by stretcher to a hospital in Queens, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Flight attendants inspected the seatbelt immediately after the mishap and found signs of malfunction.
