When a Muslim is lynched and no one comes: What Saikun Khan’s killing says about us
When a man is stoned to death in the middle of a marketplace in front of a police station and in broad daylight because he was wearing a skullcap and had a beard, and the one who stoned him to death shouts, “aaj ek mulle ko mara hai abhi aur ko maarunga” (I have killed one Muslim today and I’m going to kill more) seemingly without any fear of its repercussions, it speaks volumes about our society.

Beyond the protests: The systemic structures we don’t see
In the wake of the resignation of the Minister of Education and the withdrawal of the student protest spearheaded by the Cockroach Janata Party, it is difficult not to feel hopeful. For the first time in a long while, there was visible and sustained resistance against a religiously bigoted government whose policies have disproportionately targeted Muslims and, increasingly, Christians.

Huntington, the influential American political scientist whose ideas shaped much of Western foreign policy – particularly that of the United States – once made a blunt observation about the foundations of global power. In his controversial book The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order, he wrote that “The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion […] but rather by its superiority in applying organised violence.

Cognitive status and demographics modify the association between subjective cognition and amyloid
Introduction Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a public health crisis that will only continue to worsen as the population ages.1 Novel treatments for AD require initiation prior to the onset of dementia, highlighting the need for early detection in individuals who are cognitively unimpaired or only mildly symptomatic.2 Current methods of identifying underlying AD pathology in non-demented individuals, such as positron emission tomography imaging and lumbar puncture, can be expensive and would place...
Sister Ships, Associate Ships and their Arrest for Maritime Claims
Imagine yourself in a situation where a ship has caused you a great deal of damage. As a claimant, your recourse against the ship owner would be very limited. Many a times, companies own ships as their sole asset. The ship owner might be a foreigner and once he has taken the ship out of your jurisdiction, it is very hard to follow him and the ship to seek reparation. Several ship owning companies are registered in countries like Liberia that do not have a strong system of law.
Liability of Ships and Ship Owners for the Bunker Supply Debts of Time Charterers
Maritime law is unique insofar as a ship may be held liable for claims that the actual owner of the ship is not even responsible for. A maritime claim is made against the ship and a lien is sought on the ship to provide security for the claim.
Perils Of International Trade - Use Of Bill Of Lading For Sale Of Goods
A bill of lading is a legal document issued by a carrier to a shipper, which details the type, quantity, and destination of the goods being transported.
