Migrants' Calibration of Social Ties Under Double War: Relational Dynamics and Network Reconfiguration

From battlefield to living room: a community-based narrative intervention for reciprocal healing during war
Abstract Background: The “Swords of Iron” war created a reality of shared trauma, blurring the boundaries between the front line and the home front. Traditional clinical models often face challenges in providing scalable, real-time responses to mass trauma. This study examines “Hero in the Living Room”—a community-based narrative intervention-as a mechanism for processing trauma and promoting resilience during the acute phase of conflict.

Submovements in manual tracking: people with Parkinson’s disease produce more submovements than age-matched controls - Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation
Abstract In general, people are unable to produce slow, smooth movements - as movements become slower (i.e., with longer durations), they become jerkier. A hallmark feature of Parkinson’s disease is bradykinesia - slowness of movement. In this study, we investigate the intersection of these two observations - how do people with Parkinson’s disease (PwP) perform in a slow tracking task, and how does it vary as a function of movement frequency?

Sortino(γ): A Modified Sortino Ratio With Adjusted Threshold
Abstract A portfolio’s Sortino ratio is strongly affected by the risk-free vs. risky assets mix, except for the case where the threshold, T is equal to the risk-free rate. Therefore, if T differs from the risk-free rate, the portfolio’s Sortino ratio could potentially be increased by merely changing the mix of the risk-free and the risky components. The widely used Sharpe ratio, on the other hand, does not share this caveat.
The battle over right to repair is a fight over your car’s data
Cars are no longer just a means of transportation. They have become rolling hubs of data communication. Modern vehicles regularly transmit information wirelessly to their manufacturers. However, as cars grow “smarter,” the right to repair them is under siege. As legal scholars, we find that the question of whether you and your local mechanic can tap into your car’s data to diagnose and repair spans issues of property rights, trade secrets, cybersecurity, data privacy and consumer rights.

Passionate hearts, torn loyalties: navigating the interplay between fandom and romance
Introduction A man can change anything: his face, his family, his girlfriend, his religion, his God. But there is something a man can not change. A man can not change his passion (Campanella, 2009). This quote from the Argentinian film the secret in their eyes vividly captures the essence of an ardent sports fan’s commitment to their club.

From legends to legacy: the impact of fan influence on retiring athletes in premier league basketball
Introduction The age of athletes plays a critical role in shaping not only how they are perceived by others but also in influencing their self-perception. This becomes increasingly evident as athletes approach retirement, their age becoming a central theme in both public discourse and professional discussions. One of the most pivotal aspects in this context is the dynamic relationship between fans and athletes.

"Trade Secrets and Personal Secrets" by Lital Helman
Abstract This Article aims to examine the different ways in which the law protects commercial and private secrets. The most fundamental difference is that the trade secrets regime forbids the unauthorized use of a business’s confidential information, while privacy law does not forbid the unauthorized use of a person’s confidential information. If a firm takes measures to protect information of value, the law forbids the use of this information.

"Intellectual Property Law and the Right to Repair" by Leah Chan Grinvald and Ofer Tur-Sinai
This Article posits that intellectual property law should accommodate consumers’ right to repair their products. In recent years, there has been a growing push towards state legislation that would provide consumers with a “right to repair” their products. Currently, twenty states have pending legislation that would require product manufacturers to make available replacement parts and repair manuals. Unfortunately, though, this legislation has stalled in many of the states.
Op-ed: The danger of trusting gut instincts to decide whether a military action is proportional
Why did U.S. President Donald Trump recently call off a retaliatory strike against Iran? The answer was proportionality: Trump said the American response to Iran’s downing of an American drone should be on a similar scale. That decision, Trump said, came from his “gut.” Because the drone was unmanned, Trump said it would be disproportionate for a U.S. strike to result in approximately 150 Iranian deaths, the estimated number of likely casualties.

Men Who Were Left and the High Cost of the High Road
Original Paper First Online: 20 March 2019 Shares 6 Downloads Abstract Divorcing couples in western societies are strongly encouraged to “take the High Road,” which is accomplished by not “involving the children.” The stoicism demanded of a father in the wake of a divorce is doubly imperative, dictated by both the High Road and masculinity codes. A “real man” takes the High Road even if he suspects that this is critically damaging his relationship with his children.
Death thoughts mediate ostracism mood reduction: The moderating role of marital status
Ostracism is known to cause psychological distress; however, it remains unclear why ostracism evokes this response. Two experiments tested empirically whether fear of death mediates ostracism distress (mood) and whether marital status moderates this role. A total of 345 participants played Cyberball with two other ostensible players. After the game, accessibility of death-related thoughts was assessed by a word completion task, and a mood questionnaire was used to measure their distress.
