Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s coalition government was granted a slight reprieve when both his ally’s candidates won during the Sept 9 by-elections for Pulai and Simpang Jeram. This was after his administration was dealt a serious blow during the Aug 12 state elections, in which rival Perikatan Nasional clinched landslide victories in three states while making in-roads in states held by Pakatan Harapan-BN.

The authority is investigating a website, namely the MYS PPL, which claims that it can help members of the public to look for a long lost friend by selling personal data. However, at the time of writing, the website is inaccessible, but it is not clear whether it was taken down by the host or blocked by the authorities.

More people checked in with the MySejahtera application during the stringent total lockdown (June 1 onwards) than during the movement control order (MCO) 3.0 period, according to data released by the Health Ministry. Checking in with the MySejahtera app is a requirement when visiting premises away from one’s home, a tool designed for contact tracing during the Covid-19 pandemic but can also give an indication of the movement of people.
