Ocular toxoplasmosis, caused by Toxoplasma gondii, is a major cause of posterior uveitis and vision loss globally. Accurate diagnosis is vital to prevent retinal damage. Funduscopy is traditionally used but can miss cases, while ELISA detects antibodies but struggles to differentiate between active and past infections. PCR is the most specific method, directly detecting T. gondii DNA, but its use in resource-limited settings is limited.
