HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS at Ireland’s third-level institutions are homeless, according to data obtained from colleges and universities under the Freedom of Information Act. At least 346 students reported being homeless to their higher education institution during the 2024/25 academic year. The real number is likely to be significantly higher, however, as many of the largest universities in the country do not count how many of their students are homeless.

Referendum passes, creating full-time Oifigeach na Gaeilge UCD students have voted on a new constitution for their Students' Union, creating a full-time Irish Language Officer. Results have been announced for the referendum on the proposed UCDSU constitution, alongside the executive by-elections held for vacant College Officer roles. The constitutional referendum has passed, moving the role of Oifigeach na Gaeilge from a part-time position into a full-time sabbatical officer role.
